SouthStar Energy Services Promotes Natural Gas Industry Vets
To Lead Retail and Commercial Operations Units

ATLANTA – SouthStar Energy Services LLC (dba Georgia Natural Gas in Georgia) recently announced the promotion of John H. Jamieson and Michael P. Nieman to vice president of retail operations and vice president of commercial operations, respectively. Mr. Jamieson and Mr. Nieman report directly to SouthStar’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Michael Braswell.

As vice president of retail operations, Mr. Jamieson is responsible for retail customer service and billing operations, direct sales to the retail market, retail forecasting and planning, and management of SouthStar’s largest vendor. He has more than 12 years’ experience in the natural gas industry, including six with Atlanta-based AGL Resources.

Mr. Jamieson is a Georgia native and a resident of Smyrna. He is a graduate of Clemson University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He also earned a master’s degree in business administration with concentrations in finance and marketing from Georgia State University.

In his position as vice president of commercial operations, Mr. Nieman manages gas operations and financial hedging functions. He also is responsible for the company’s asset management and origination business units.

Mr. Nieman began his career in the natural gas industry in 1993 as a rate analyst with the Municipal Gas Authority of Georgia. In 1994 he joined Atlanta Gas Light Company
(AGLC), serving in various roles during Georgia’s transition from a regulated to a deregulated natural gas market. He was named director of industrial markets for SouthStar in 1999 and in 2001 became managing director of commercial operations.

Mr. Nieman earned a bachelor of science degree in economics from Florida State University and a master’s degree in business administration (finance) from Mercer University. A resident of Stone Mountain, he serves on the board of directors of Camp Fire USA (Georgia Council).
